All my friends and most people I know go straight to Amazon for all their online shopping needs. It’s the first place they think about when they need a product. They can find almost everything they need in one place, so it’s very convenient for them to shop there.
This is also why most retailers choose this huge eCommerce platform to sell their products online. Because of this, sales data taken from Amazon is an excellent source of demand in the online market.

Using Amazon to find “hot selling products.”
So how do you find the “Hot selling items”? You go to Amazon’s Movers and Shakers area. There, you will find their biggest gainers in sales rank in the last twenty-four hours. They update this information hourly, so you’ll always know what products are selling well at any given time.
Say you love to cook and want to start a website about different cooking methods, and the utensils used.
Now you’ll need to know what kitchen utensils are the best sellers, so you’ll go to Amazon and type kitchen into the movers and shakers search box. The top 100 sellers will come up in a two-page section. It will look like this.
We are using the Mimill Mini bag sealer as an example.
Now click on a product, scroll down to the Products Details section, and check the (BSR) Best Sellers Rank at the bottom of the product information area. It will look like this.
This information will tell you how well a product sells compared to others in the same category. Notice that, the Mimill mini bag sealer is rated number 3 in kitchen sealers, so this product should sell fairly well.
Now you have to pick the products that are selling the best and you’re all set.
This method will work for any product that Amazon sells.

Using Google Trends to find products and services.
Another good place to check out where the great customer services are, and the hot-selling products are is
Google Trends. Google Trends free data explorer allows you to search for a particular topic on Google. You can search interests in a topic, where it’s most searched, or what people search for in connection with it.
Google’s search algorithm is more sensitive than Bing’s or Yahoo’s, and that’s why over
5 billion Google searches are performed each day, worldwide. So with this in mind, it makes good sense to see what people are searching for online. Google Trends has millions of top-selling products and thousands of great customer services to help make your selection easier and your recommendations have some weight behind them.
I know this sounds silly but, I’m going to use a rather obscure object for this example.
Namely Donuts.
I know what you’re thinking, I’ve lost my mind and got hungry at the same time. Well, maybe I have, but that’s beside the point, ok, back to the topic.
I’m going to show you just how much information Google Trends has on donuts and how it can help you find some hot trends and a good SEO strategy too.
For example, say you’re writing an article about Donuts and you want to see where the best place to buy them is if donuts are a popular item and other ways to use donuts that you might not have thought of. Google Trends is a good place to find all this information and much more.
What I see here is the way you spell your topic makes a big difference in how many searches it gets. It pays to pay attention to the way everything is spelled during a search.
This chart shows several different ideas for your article and related queries people might research, using donuts instead of a bun for a chicken sandwich. Now there’s a different idea of using donuts. This might be a great angle to include in your article, and I bet it’s one you might not have thought of on your own.
This chart also shows a popular donut shop in Detroit Michigan with a memorable shop name, this might be a great idea to add several different donut shops to your article. Wow, there are two ideas already for additional information you can add to your article, and this is only page one of five pages. I’m sure you’ll find lots more useful information on the other pages as well.
This chart shows the top five countries that purchase the most donuts. Again, more useful information to add to your article.
This chart shows, comparing your item between two or more different aspects of the product. As an example, I chose plain donuts and chocolate donuts. As you can see chocolate donuts sell a lot better than plain ones, so you might want to focus your article on chocolate donuts for a wider reader appeal.
This chart shows what part of the USA prefers chocolate donuts (shown in red), while the gray areas show the part of the country that doesn’t eat very many donuts.
This chart shows the part of the country that likes plain donuts. You can see where to focus your attention and steer your article based on this information.

Using related keywords to increase your SEO
You can also compare an item against other keywords so that you know what your SEO strategy should be.
As an example, I choose chocolate donuts over plain donuts. If I want to reach the most donut lovers, I need to write about chocolate donuts instead of plain ones. As my research has clearly shown, that’s what is in demand as far as donuts are concerned.
You can use this strategy with many different keywords that relate to your subject to get a better understanding of what people are searching for and want in their products. As an example, you could use cream-filled donuts, powdered donuts, or nut-topped donuts in your search.
This is just one example of how Google Trends can help you choose your keywords to get better SEO results and get higher rankings too.
If Google Trends has this much information on something as silly as donuts, imagine what it can do for whatever your product or customer service is, and how it will benefit your articles and be of value to your readers at the same time.
