Some keyword terms:
Keywords: A word or phrase that people type into their computer browser to find answers to their questions or get information. For example: How do you grow carrots?
Keyword research tool: A software program that shows website owners what their readers are searching for on the internet. For example: How do you grow carrots?
Why is using a keyword research tool so important?
Here’s why a keyword research tool is so important to running your business.
- To sell your products and services you have to know what keywords your readers are using.
- Keyword research tells you what people are searching for.
- Keyword research drives traffic to your website.
- You have to have good keywords to have an effective website.
- You only rank high in the search engines if you use good keywords.
- Keyword research shows you what keywords your competition is using.
- Shows you what keywords you’re ranking for.
Keyword research should be the first thing you do before starting a new article. Start with your article idea and then do a keyword search to find the best title to use for that idea.
What is Jaaxy?
Jaaxy is the only keyword research tool that is designed for affiliate marketers, by affiliate marketers. Jaaxy is the most advanced research tool for managing keywords, lists, ranking, and competitor’s keyword use.
Jaaxy also offers you niche ideas and domain names to help you get a great start to your website. Data from all three of the big search engines are put into Jaaxy giving you fast keyword data. Jaaxy gets keyword information from the search engines and shows you how to use this information in easy to understand words.
How does Jaaxy work?
I’m using Jaaxy Lite because it’s the FREE version that comes with my premium membership with Wealthy Affiliate. If you’re using the starter version of Jaaxy it will look the same as mine, the only difference is I get a few more searches then you do, but that won’t change how Jaaxy looks at all.
Here is how Jaaxy works. You can either watch this short video explaining the basics or read my text below, both will teach the basics of how Jaaxy works. I suggest you watch the video and then read the text to fully understand it though.
In the above video, I want you to notice that she does a very broad topic search, and then narrows it down to find the right keywords to use. I also want you to notice that she improves her keyword search as she goes, having each search make her keywords stronger than before.
When she has found a keyword title, she then finds great ideas and heading titles to use within her existing article, or she could do many different articles with these same headings. So Jaaxy has not only given her a great title that will attract attention but it has also given her many other titles for her to either use in her article as an outline or to use at another time.
First, you have to type in something that you want information on. I’ve typed in the topic of cats into the search box and this is what cames up.
As you can see in the above image that a lot of people are searching for information about cats. It has an Avg (average) of 680,297 searches this month. That’s a lot of searches, but it’s a very general topic and we don’t know at this point what kind of information they want about cats. And what are all these numbers next to our search? What do the numbers all mean?
Let’s look at that now.
Making sense of the numbers:
Let’s start by breaking down what all the metrics mean.
AVG: The number of searches a keyword receives each month.
You want this number to be above 50 and higher. There’s no sense wasting your time on a topic if no one is searching for it.
QSR: (quoted search results) this is the number of competing pages your keyword has. This is your competition, so you want this number to be 100 or lower. The lower the number the better chance you’ll have to rank high for that keyword. Anything under 100 is considered a low compaction keyword.
KQI: (keyword quality indicator) this system goes by colors. Green= good, Yellow= just ok, and Red= poor. You want to have the green of course. This will ensure your keywords to be ranked within the search engines.
Traffic: This number tells you how many visitors your keyword WOULD GET IF you were ranked on the first page of the search engine. I don’t pay attention to this number; I don’t find it very helpful to me.
SEO: This is a traffic and competition score, (1-100) the higher the score the more likely you will rank on the first page of the search engine. You want it to be as close to 100 as possible.
Domains: This tells you what domains are available for those keywords. (dot com, dot net, dot org, etc…)
Related: This shows you more related keywords for your topic.
Now that we know what the numbers mean, let’s go back and click on the get QSR for our keyword. Now, this is what Jaaxy shows up for the cats’ topic for competing pages.
We can see that this keyword has a high competition rate and is considered a poor topic to rank for. This means we will have to refine our search for something a bit more specific about cats.
If we go back and look at the keyword chart again you’ll see that cat towers have 5,058 searches, so let’s click on the QSR for that and see what we get.
As we can see now, the cat towers topic has a normal or average competition rate of 140, but that’s still above our 100 or less goal, so we will want to refine our topic some more. We could try wooden cat towers or try what’s further down the list like cat tower plans free. The cat tower plans get 136 searches a month and a competition rate of 33 according to the chart. That’s a decent amount of searches and a low competition rate, so I think that’s our topic.
This system we just went over is called “finding the best keywords”. It’s Jaaxy’s way of helping you find what keywords will work the best for getting high SEO rankings. I also showed you how to find the lowest competition for your keywords, by keeping an eye on the QSR number and having all your keywords be green in the KQI. If you always pay attention to these two factors you’ll have good keyword titles and low competition.
Now that we have our topic, we need to write an article on where to get free plans to build cat towers. For this, you will have to do some research on the internet to see who has free plans to build cat towers, or you could write about building cat towers as a DIY (do it yourself) project and tell them how to build them. Either way, you go, have fun with it.
As you’re looking down the lists of keywords you’ll see a few topics that would make great articles for the future, so you’ll want to save these. But how do you do that?
Let’s cover that now.
Saving and managing your lists:
Jaaxy makes it very easy to save all your high-performing keywords into titled lists that are easy to find so they are easy to manage too. Here’s how to do that.
When the keyword list comes up you will notice a checkbox in front of each keyword. If you check the box in front of the keyword you want to save and then click save to list at either the top or bottom of the chart it will save those keywords for you. See the chart below.
Jaaxy now brings up this box, see the chart below.
Now you want to give the keywords a title, we’ll use cat towers and we save it to a new list. When you click on new list it will not seem to do anything, but trust me it does save it to your list. Now click on save. The new list will now show up.
Now your new list will show up. You can either view keywords or close the list feature. It’s really that easy. You’re done.
You can create as many lists as you need to keep track of all your keywords. You can create a new title each time or place your keywords in an existing list. It’s your choice. Here’s what your new list looks like.
If you want to delete a few keywords from your list, just check the boxes in front of the keywords you want to delete and a delete selected button will appear at the top left of your screen. Click on that button and a box will pop up asking if you’re sure you want to delete these things from your list. Then either click on delete or cancel.
This allows you to manage your keyword list in a fast and easy way. Being able to name your list in an easy to remember way will help you be more efficient in finding the lists you need quickly, thus allowing you more time to do other things.
Jaaxy also gives you the last saved date of your list, the monthly traffic number of your keywords if you were ranked on the first page of Google, and the average traffic that keyword gets in all search engines combined within the month. These buttons are found at the top of your Jaaxy list next to the list name.
You can organize your list in any way you see fit, by the last saved date, by the monthly traffic numbers or by the keyword size.
You can also save your keywords into any list in any section of Jaaxy at any time.
Here’s an example, You’re in the alphabet soup section and you want to save a keyword to your already saved blender list, all’s you have to do is check the keywords you want and click on save selected button, then add it to your already saved list name.
IMPORTANT TIP: Remember to delete the keyword from your list after you write about it. That way you won’t waste time writing about it again at a later date.
PRO TIP: When you have trouble finding a keyword that has the searches you’re looking for, try using long-tailed keywords for your search.

What are long-tail keywords?
Long-tail keywords are more specific and less common than other keywords. They focus more on describing the keyword.
Instead of looking up spaghetti try using a more descriptive group of words like Homemade Italian Spaghetti Bolognese
See how the keywords homemade Italian and bolognese describe the spaghetti. Using these long-tail keywords will allow you to rank higher in the search engines and attract more visitors to your website.
Alphabet soup technique:
Ever have a hard time figuring out what keywords to use? When I have trouble with this I use the alphabet soup technique to find great keywords. Here’s how it works.
You click on alphabet soup, now type in your basic keyword and the letter A next to it, Jaaxy will bring up your keyword with everything related to it that has the letter A in it. Example: I want to write about finding a niche but that topic is much too broad, so I want to find something a bit more specific. So I’ll type in How to find a niche A and this comes up.
I like How to find a niche market for a beginner, but if I didn’t find something that caught my attention in this section I would have scrolled down to the B area and see if that had anything I liked. Jaaxy brings up the whole list for you automatically through the whole alphabet, so you can find something that appeals to you. It’s really that easy.
If you want to choose a letter in the middle of the alphabet you can use the slide bar next to the Keyword+ button to take you to whatever letter you wish to see.
You can also do this same research in Google Instants, by typing in your keyword into their search box and putting the letter A after it. The only problem with this is you have to manually type in each letter by hand.
Using Jaaxy for the alphabet soup feature makes it not only fast but much easier for you to get the results you’re looking for in a short amount of time. Saving you time and frustration.
Now all you have to do is enter your new keyword phrase into the regular search area to see how well it performs.
Jaaxy has a great feature called Brainstorm. If you click the brainstorm button at the top right of the Jaaxy page, it will take you to a list of the top 24 topics that are trending right now on Google Trends, Alexa Topics, Amazon Best Sellers, and Twitter Trends.
If you click on the plus sign next to the keywords Jaaxy will add it to your Brainstorm Queue list. You can then click on any keyword from the Queue list and get more research words from there.
You can click on the main keyword button at the top of the Queue list and it will take you to the Queue list, see example below. There you will find your Brainstorm list next to the Related list on the right.
From here you can access all your keyword lists at once. You can also add keywords to any list manually too by entering the keyword into the search box.
This brainstorm feature is nice if you want to write an article on a trending topic and don’t want to put much time into doing much research on the topic. It really helps you out in a pinch.
Knowing where you rank:
This is a very helpful and nice feature to have. Site rank lets you know where your articles are ranking in the search engines. To find this information out you only have to type in your Domain name, the URL of your article, or the keywords from that article, and Jaaxy site rank will show you where that article is ranked. This allows you to quickly determine what activities are ranking and which ones are not.
You can also keep track of how well your website is ranking. You can choose how often you want your site to be tracked too. When you pick this feature Jaaxy will notify you when your rankings change in any way. You can keep track of how well your site is doing after you make changes to it, like install a new theme.

Checking out your competition:
You will never get ahead of your competition if you don’t know what they’re doing. Jaaxy has a feature to help with this.
The site and article tracking comes in real handy if you want to keep track of your competition’s articles and site rankings. It’s always a good idea to know what your competition is doing so you can stay a step ahead of them.
Jaaxy makes this easy to do by showing you where your competitors are ranking, what their meta tags are, what their content quality and length is, what backlinks they have, and where their ad placements are.
With all this information on how they are running their business, it should be easy for you to do a better job than them. Jaaxy gives you a competitive edge.
To beat your competition you need to know more than they do about your topic. You need to have more detailed content and better information than they do to attract visitors and keep them on your site.
Looking at your search history:
Jaaxy has a keyword history list you can access. It’s found at the top of the Jaaxy page under Search history. This feature is used to find a keyword you’ve used in the past and have forgotten what list you place it in.
